The Indian Army is imparting training on its troops manning units located across the country in urban warfare in case another attack like the Mumbai massacre takes place, a senior Indian Defense Ministry official said on Sunday.
"The Army is meant for engaging in war in case a country attacks India. But, during last November's Mumbai terror attacks, the Army had played a major role in assisting the paramilitary forces to combat terror attacks. But, the Defense Ministry wants the Army to be adept to urban warfare," the official said, on condition of anonymity.
The Army has participated during the Mumbai terror attacks and lost a few of its best personnel in the massacre which claimed the lives of over 170 people, including foreign nationals.
