Limited Internet access in Xinjiang to resume

Internet services in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region will resume from Monday five months after the July 5 riots.

Xinjiang residents will only have access to xinhuanet and people.com.cn from Tuesday. Other Internet services, text message and international long distance calls will resume gradually in near future, according to the local administration.

Websites and mobile phone services were shut down due to the Xinjiang riots on July 5 that resulted in 197 deaths.
