Xinjiang waiter dies in restaurant fight

A waiter from Xinjiang was stabbed to death Wednesday after a fight broke out in a Muslim-style restaurant in Futian residential district in South Shenzhen, local police reported. Shenzhen police have arrested seven suspects.

According to local police, the fight started about 9:20 pm when the waiter named Tursun didn’t give the seven restaurant patrons a cigarette lighter they requested, and the local police received a 110 call at 9:42 pm. The policeman arrived at the restaurant five minutes later, to find the Xinjiang waiter with serious knife wounds . He then was sent to Futian People’s hospital but died despite efforts to save him.

The seven fled the restaurant, but at 3 am Thursday, local police arrested two suspects surnamed Dong and Deng at a medical clinic. An hour later, the other five suspects were arrested too.

The seven were detained and the case is still under investigation.
