Xingxingxia Passage in Hami

Xingxingxia Passage is located at the southeast of Hami City, the border of Gansu and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Xingxingxia means "star gorge" – a beautiful name supposedly derived from ancient times, when travelers would rest up here in the mountains and look up to see one of the mountain peaks shining like a little star. It has long been regarded as the east gate of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region since ancient times.
