Thailand officially joined the International Network for Bamboo and Rattan (INBAR) on December 6, becoming its 42nd member state. Karntimon Ruksakiati, the charge d'affaires of the Thai Embassy, attended the event. The occasion was marked with a flag-raising ceremony that was attended by representatives of various embassies in Beijing. The initiative of INBAR is to promote bamboo and rattan as a sustainable resource. Hans Friederich, the director general of INBAR, said that he believes that Thailand's cooperation would reinforce the use of bamboo and rattan as sustainable resources for green development. Thailand will be able to draw on INBAR's resources and policy expertise including increasing value-added production of bamboo resources in the future.
