Several tourists were banned from a nature reserve in Northwest China after they were caught throwing rocks at a giant panda to get its attention.

The members of a tour group are seen on video hurling the stones into a wooded area at the Foping National Nature Reserve in Hanzhong, Shaanxi Province.

The video was taken by another visitor to the park's Panda Valley on Friday. In the clip, a visitor can be heard yelling at the panda while another throws a rock.

Luckily, the 7-year-old male panda was not injured, park employees told West China Metropolis Daily.

The tourists involved were blacklisted from visiting the area, the paper reported.

According to the employee, the visitors were with a tour group from nearby Xi'an, which is now on probation with park authorities following the incident.

Still a vulnerable species with its habitat under threat, the panda is considered a 'national treasure' in China.
