The 14th Curitiba International Biennial of Contemporary Art in Curitiba, Brazil kicked off on Saturday. Gathering more than 400 artists from 45 countries and regions, the biennial is spread across seven museums, 20 galleries and public spaces.

The biennial is set to end on March 1, 2020.

The Group Exhibition of BRICS Countries at the Oscar Niemeyer Museum is one of the event's biggest highlights. Each BRICS member has its own exhibition space.

China's exhibition has been well received by local visitors. Working with the theme of  Transformative Creation, five Chinese artists are presenting six sets of artwork.

More than 40 Chinese artists are participating in the biennial.

According to Shu Jianping, cultural counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Brazil, the biennial is a window for showing the talent and creativity of Chinese artists, while the BRICS exhibition will further contribute to cultural exchanges among members.

Founded in 1993, the biennial has risen to become one of the most influential international biennials in Latin America. China was invited as a guest country to the biennial in 2017, marking the first large exhibition of Chinese contemporary art in Latin America.
