Embattled Chinese businessman Jia Yueting's recent financial situation has been exposed, following the news of his filing for personal bankruptcy in the US. Jia's monthly income was roughly $93,810 over the past six months.

Jia, founder of electric-vehicle company Faraday Future (FF), was heavily indebted and filed for bankruptcy and restructuring in the US on Sunday.

According to documents related to Jia's personal bankruptcy filing, Jia disclosed his monthly income for the past six months under Chapter 11 of the US Bankruptcy Code. The businessman's monthly income was recorded, and the documents were signed by Jia Yueting and dated October 14, 2019.

According to the documents, Jia's total salary, expenses, bonuses and commission added up to $50,000. Net income from rental payments and other real estate was $43,810, which put Jia's monthly income at about $93,810 over the past six months.

More than 90 percent of Jia's debt is guaranteed for his company. The total amount of debt to be repaid is about $3.6 billion, with a net amount of about $2 billion after deducting secured debt that has been frozen for the disposal of domestic assets and convertible shares, according to Jia's Debt Project Team.

Jia will set up a trust and transfer all of his US assets to repay creditors, said Jia's Debt Project Team on Monday. When the scheme is completed, Jia will no longer hold a stake in Smart King, the controlling parent company of FF.

FF said in a tweet on Monday that Jia's filing for bankruptcy was done to address his personal debts in China and that "this matter will not affect any of FF's normal business operations".
