Chinese State Councilor Wang Yong has met with Seychelles President Danny Faure and held talks with Vice President Vincent Meriton in Victoria, capital of Seychelles.

Wang conveyed Chinese President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings to Faure and said the traditional friendship between China and Seychelles is profound and the bilateral relations are developing stably.

Wang said in recent years, the two countries have seen frequent high-level exchanges while mutual political trust has strengthened and pragmatic cooperation is in high gear.

He said that led by the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and guided by the outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Beijing Summit as well as the Belt and Road Initiative, China is willing to strengthen coordination in international affairs with Seychelles and enhance the synergy of development strategies of the two countries.

He said China is also willing to explore cooperation potential in sectors including marine economy, culture, and tourism so as to further boost the bilateral ties.

President of Seychelles Danny Faure said on Thursday that China is a true friend and good partner to Seychelles, and that Seychelles admires the development of China over the past 70 years. He said Seychelles is grateful to China's long-term support and assistance to the country's economic and social development and stands ready to strengthen unity and all-round friendly cooperation with China so as to achieve shared development.

Vice President of Seychelles Vincent Meriton said the country looks forward to deepening bilateral cooperation in various areas under the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the Belt and Road Initiative so as to benefit the peoples of the two countries.
