Some friendships are just clucking surprising!

When Mama discovers a mischievous chicken invading her flourishing veggie garden her first instinct is to reach for the spade. 

But what starts out as a skirmish over the silver beet develops into an unlikely friendship.

Award-winning playwright D.F. Mamea's slice-of-life story paints a vivid portrait of a local ­neighborhood, its colorful characters, and Mama's dreams for herself and her family. 

Goretti Chadwick (Pani and Pani) gives a tour-de-force performance in the role of a lifetime, as she brings this glorious character to life. 

An intimate, heartwarming, and funny play about friendship, loss, love and life captivates the stage.

The award-winning play Still Life with Chicken came to Asia for the first time as one of the 12 shows at the inaugural International Theater Season hosted by the Shanghai Grand Theatre and Edinburgh Fringe Showcase.

This is a story about companionship. All of our parents up there want their children to follow their dreams. 

Sometimes, when we do, we leave our parents behind. "We didn't mean it!" 

The leading character in play, Still Life with Chicken, "Mama" is played by Chadwick.

Still life with Chickens will be Chadwick's 13th production with Auckland Theatre Company. 

Chadwick has done various film and TV roles - she is however more well-known for her work as an actor, writer and script editor. 

Mamea has worked on theatre, radio, television and film projects. He has won the Adam Award for Best New Zealand Play (Still Life with Chickens, 2017).
