French-Israeli artist Nathanaëlle Herbelin, winner of the Yishu 8 prize, is holding a new exhibition at the George V Art Center in Beijing this week. The To Become exhibition features a number of paintings created during the artist's two-month stay in Beijing.

During her time in the capital, Herbelin has toured to the Summer Palace, the Palace Museum and also watched stage performances at the Tianqiao Performing Arts Center. She also learned about China's traditional stringed musical instrument guqin

"Before, I didn't have much time for art creation. But now here, I know only a few people and so had a lot time for art. I can showcase every one that I have met, the scenery that I have visited and every story that I have heard," Herbelin said at the opening.

In her paintings, visitors will see familiar scenes of daily life such as quilts hung to dry in small alleys and bird cages hanging from trees.
