China's military-civilian integration policy doesn't steal foreign technologies, and it is a Cold War mentality for some US politicians to call the policy a global threat, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said on Tuesday.

The comment came after US Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Ford published an article on the website of the US Department of State on Monday, calling China's military-civilian integration policy a "global security threat".

It showed an old Cold War mentality under which some US officials maliciously distorted China's military-civilian integration policy and attempted to use this as an excuse to impose a technological blockade against China and hinder the economic, trade and technological cooperation between China and other countries, Geng Shuang, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a regular press briefing on Tuesday.

"The action taken by the US, which bears the Cold War mentality is against the spirit of international cooperation and the tide of the times. It harms the interests of China and the United States, as well as the common interests of countries around the world," he said.

The spokesman noted that the aim of China's military-civilian integration is to effectively combine military and regional resources, coordinate and promote economic and social development and national defense, and benefit more people with scientific and technological achievements.

He called for the US to stop malicious smearing of China, look at China's military-civilian integration development policy from an objective perspective, and do things that are conducive to Sino-US communication and international cooperation, not the other way around.
