Chinese mainland reports 54 new imported COVID19 cases, one new local transmitted case

The Chinese mainland reported 54 new imported cases of COVID-19 infection and one local transmitted case on Thursday, bringing the total number of imported cases to 595, according to the National Health Commission on Friday.

The only one local transmitted case was reported in East China's Zhejiang Province on Thursday, which was infected by an imported case, following other such transmissions reported in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong.

Among the 54 new imported cases, 17 were reported in Shanghai, 12 in Guangdong Province, 4 in Beijing, 4 in Tianjin, 3 in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, 3 in Zhejiang Province and 3 in Fujian Province. Shandong and Yunnan provinces both reported 2 cases, respectively. Liaoning, Jiangsu, Sichuan and Shaanxi provinces each reported one, according to the commission.

On Thursday, the Chinese mainland reported 49 new suspected cases, the commission said.

A total of 537 people have been discharged upon recovering and there were five new fatalities, all in Hubei, on Thursday, according to the commission.
