Goji berry pickers sorts out goji berries at a planting base in Zhongning County, northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, June 30, 2020. In Kaiyuan Village of Hongsibao District, groups of women rise early to catch the buses to start their daily work, picking goji berry, at Zhongning goji berry planting base which is 10 km away. Hongsibao is a large community of ecomigration, where residents formerly living in environmentally vulnerable areas are relocated. As this year's goji berry harvest season comes, about 22,800 goji berry pickers, most of whom are women from the resettlement, get busy in the planting base. By picking goji berries for over a month, each of them can earn a salary ranging from 7,000 to 8,000 RMB (from 1,002 U.S. dollars to 1,145 U.S. dollars) to support their families.
