The first cloned Japanese black cattle in Qinhuangdao called Bei Bei is developing well at a breeding center in Funing county in Qinhuangdao.
Last June the breeding center cooperated with a biotech company in Langfang; they extracted the somatic cells and ear cells from a Japanese black cow and transplanted the embryo cells into 43 cows.
On March 20, one cow gave birth to a calf called Bei Bei. Now the calf looks similar to his father – a Japanese black bull, which is considered as the best-quality cattle in Japan.
