Argentina midfielder Lucho Gonzalez will join French Ligue 1 club Olympique Marseille from Porto on a four-year deal, the club said on their website on Tuesday.
"There is an agreement on the principle but it's still pending the traditional medical tests", the club said.
The 28-year-old Gonzalez tore the meniscus in his left knee in a Champions League match against Manchester United in April. But Marseille is hopeful he has recovered and will sign soon.
Marseille finished second in the French league behind Bordeaux last season, and new coach Didier Deschamps is determined to mount a serious title challenge next term.
