Indonesia's incumbent president obtains massive votes

The pairing of Indonesian incumbent president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Boediono secured more than 60 percent votes nationwide, according to preliminary results from Indonesia's polling commission on Thursday.

Susilo's victory was based on more than 18,715,908 ballots counted by the General Election Commission (KPU).

The pairing of Megawati-Prabowo and Jusuf Kalla-Wiranto obtained more than 28 percent and 9 percent votes respectively, the KPU's preliminary tabulation result showed.

Susilo unanimously won the votes in northernmost province of Aceh at 92.58 percent, far higher than Jusuf Kalla's 5.14 percent and Megawati Soekarnoputri's 5.14 percent.

Meanwhile, in Aceh's neighboring province of North Sumatra, Susilo obtained 75.51 percent votes with Megawati came the second at 19.08 percent and Jusuf at 5.41 percent.

The KPU's SMS-based tabulation was commenced on Wednesday. The election commission is scheduled to commence the official tabulation on votes from more than 547,000 polling stations across the country on Thursday

The official presidential election result is to be announced by the KPU within 30 days.
