Female rally driver Susan Muwonge was voted as Uganda's top sports personality for the month of July by the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA), local media reported on Tuesday.

Muwonge won the 2009 UMOSPOC (United Motorsport Club) Challenge Rally in Mukono on July 19 with co-driver Edmond Kyeyune, powering Subaru N4 and returned in two hours, 13 minutes and 52 seconds.

The win made her the first-ever Ugandan woman to win a rally championship event.

According to the state-owned New Vision daily, Muwonge, who collected 525 votes, was the second female driver to have won the USPA award after Rose Lwakataka in April 2008.
