Senior Chinese leader He Guoqiang on Tuesday called for innovation in anti-corruption work in order to promote economic development and social harmony.
He, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), made the remarks during a trip to the northwestern province of Qinghai from Aug. 15 to 18.
Government departments should focus more on anti-corruption work and building a clean government, He said, adding that innovation should be introduced in anti-corruption education, supervision, reform as well as punishment.
He also urged the improvement of inner-Party democracy and making Party affairs public, in order to increase the transparency of the Party's exercise of power.
During his trip in Qinghai, He also visited a local company, calling on its employees to make further contributions to China's steady and relatively fast economic development.
He also toured the Sanjiangyuan Nature Reserve which is nearly 4,000 meters above sea level.
The ecological environment in Qinghai must be preserved along with the province's economic development, he said.
When visiting residents in the Batang Village of Qinghai's Yushu County, He stressed that ethnic unity and social stability must be protected so that all ethnic groups in Qinghai could live in harmony and retain progress together.
