1. Guangzhou in Guangdong – Yongding County in Fujian
Start from Guangzhou at 8:00 am and drive along the Huanan express trunk line to arrive at the Cencun toll station. Then get onto the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway after passing the Huangcun Overpass and then take the Guangzhou-Huizhou Expressway after passing the Luogang toll station. Enter the Huizhou-Heyuan Expressway after the Xiaojinkou toll station.
There are three other expressways you have to pass by to get to Meizhou City: the Jiangxi-Guangdong Expressway, Meizhou-Heyuan Expressway, and Tian-shan Expressway, and then you will arrive at Meizhou after passing the Chengdong toll station. After lunch, you can drive along the G205, S223, S203 and S309 National Highways to head for the first tourist destination–Tulou in Hongkeng Village [Click to see photos...] in Yongding County in Fujian. And stay in Yongding county for the night.
2. Yongding county in Fujian – Xiamen City in Fujian
The next day continue driving along the S203 National Highway and turn into the Zhangzhou-Longyan Expressway and Xiamen-Zhangzhou Expressway. After you pass the Xinglin toll station, head for downtown Xiamen and drive directly to Ring Island. And stay in Xiamen for the night and you can sample local foods in the downtown area.
3. Xiamen City in Fujian – Chaozhou City in Fujian
On the following day, start from Xiamen and after driving about 260 kilometers you will reach Chaozhou. Along the way you should cross Lujiang Road, Hubing Road West, the G319 National Highway and transfer to the Zhangzhou-Zhao'an Expressway, and the Shantou-Fenshuiguan Expressway. When you pass the Chaozhou toll station, drive to the direction of downtown Chaozhou where you can visit Chaozhou West Lake [Click to see photos...]. Stay in Chaozhou City for the night.
4. Chaozhou City in Fujian – Shantou City in Fujian
On the next day, begin your journey from Chaozhou City at 10:30 am, and drive along the Shantou-Fenshuiguan Expressway to downtown Shantou after passing the Waisha toll station. In Shantou city center, you can visit Mayu Island [Click to see photos...] by taking a ferry from the port in the southeast direction.
