
Liu Zige wins the women's 200m butterfly in a new world record time in Berlin.
China's Olympic gold medalist Liu Zige broke the world record for the women's 200m butterfly by clocking 2:00:78 in the World Cup Short-course meeting in Berlin Sunday.
Liu shaved 1.72 seconds off the previous record of to make a time of 2:02:50 in Stockholm, Sweden on November 12 at the World Cup .
She lost to Australian swimmer Jessica Schipper in the FINA 2009 World Swimming Championship in Rome in August, but managed to take the 200m butterfly record from her at the 11th Chinese National Games with a time of 2:01:81 on October 21.
Liu becomes the first swimmer who broke the long-course and short-course world records twice in butterfly swimming history.
