Qinling Mountain, the boundary of climate in South and North China

It is 870 kilometers long from south to north, and 200 to 500 kilometers wide from east to west. From north to south, Shaanxi has three landform regions: Loess Plateau of North Shaanxi Province, Guanzhong Plain in the middle and Qinba Mountainous Region in the south.

Main mountains include Qinling Mountain and Daba Mountain. Within the territory of Shaanxi, there are many famous mountains, such as Huashan Mountain, Taibai Mountain, Zhongnan Mountain and Lishan Mountain.

Qinling Mountain, as the boundary of climate in South and North China, traverses the province from east to west. Qinling Mountain has the Yellow River water system to its north and Yangtze River water system to its south.

In general, weather of Shaanxi is dry in spring, with less precipitation and more sandy weathers. In spring, temperature has gone up rapidly, but unstably. In summer, there are more rainy days with summer dry frequently. In autumn, the weather is cool and humid, and the temperature has dropped rapidly. In winter, the weather is cold and dry, with low temperature and less rains and snows.

Shaanxi traverses three climate belts: warm temperate climate in Guanzhong and north Shaanxi, north subtropical climate in south Shaanxi, and central temperate climate along the Yangtze wall in south Shaanxi. South Shaanxi is humid area, Guanzhong is semi-humid area, while north Shaanxi is semi-dry area.
