Fu Baoshi Memorial Hall reopened Monday in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, after more than half a year's renovation, with art master Fu's (1904- 1965) relatives and friends joining keen visitors in attending the opening ceremony.

The memorial hall, which was once too old to receive visitors, has been given a rejuvenating face-lift with previously ruined parts, like the roof and walls, completely renovated thanks to a fund of 600,000 yuan ($88,000) from the finance bureau of Jiangsu.

A permanent display of Fu's work was also opened at the same time, showing the artist's achievements and life experiences. Apart from showcasing some of his best works, paper materials and multi-media programs reflecting Fu's contributions to art are also on show at the memorial hall.

Born in Jiangxi, Fu was one of the most important Chinese artists of the last century. With his huge achievements in the innovation of traditional Chinese painting, he is considered the representative painter of New Landscape Painting.

Fu added a contemporary touch to the traditional art form and is now among the most sought-after artists in today's Chinese art market.
