The trial of two Russian men accused of chopping up a 16-year-old girl and eating her with potatoes has been halted after a juror got sick when looking at the prosecution photos, according to media reports Friday.
The murder happened in January last year, when the two suspects, Maxim Golovatskikh and his friend florist Yury Mozhnov, both 20, allegedly drowned Karina Barduchian in a bath, then cut her into pieces and served her flesh with potatoes to a lodger, Ekaterina Zinovyeva.
Ekaterina told the court of St Petersburg that they had a party with their Goth friends on the night of the murder and Karina Barduchian, who was in love with Golovatskikh, stayed over.
The lodger said she heard some noises in the bathroom at night but was stopped when she got up to check what was happening.
Next day when she got home from work, the two men offered her meat and potatoes. She allegedly ate it not knowing where it was from.
The men later hid the rest of Karina's remains in garbage skips, it is alleged.
The deputy head of St Petersburg criminal investigations Sergei Strelin said: "They confessed their guilt straight away. They explained they were hungry and drunk."
