The new primary school uniforms which are set to be worn by pupils in Jiangning District, Nanjing city, Jiangsu Province were unveiled at a fashion show on June 28.

The Jiangning district of Nanjing city, capital of Jiangsu Province, has unveiled new school uniforms which will be adopted by all primary, junior middle and senior middle schools in the district starting from September.

This is the first time that a whole district in the province has adopted a unified style of uniform for its schoolchildren, but the authorities also stressed that the pupils are not obliged to wear them.

The designers said they settled on the style of uniforms worn by school pupils in Japan and Korea, as this seemed to be the most popular option.

The uniforms come in three different designs: for summer, spring and autumn and a third style is especially suitable for autumn and winter.

They are also aimed to provide value for money, as the most expensive style comes at the relatively inexpensive price of about 300 RMB($44.13).

Comfort and health was also taken into consideration, as the shoes which are part of the uniform were styled and made while taking into consideration the growing feet of children.

The highest price for a pair of the shoes is 98 RMB ($14.4144).

The director of the Work-study Management Department of Jiangning Education Bureau, Wang Dong, said that people are sometimes prejudiced against some schoolchildren, as some schools are considered better than others and they can often tell from the uniform which school they attend.

The new uniforms will solve this issue – as the only difference will be that each school has its own badge sewn onto the blazer.

The new junior middle school uniform for spring and autumn in Jiangning District, Nanjing city, Jiangsu Province, will soon be wearing.
