Former Chinese men's international Li Xiaopeng on Saturday was named the interim head coach of the women's national team.
Chinese Football Association spokesman Dong Hua said that Li will guide the former World Cup and Olympic second placers to compete in the Asian Games to be held in south China's Guangzhou in November.
The 35-year-old Li, who spent most of his playing career in Shangdong Luneng, was one of the key memebers in China's only World Cup experience in 2002.
