Local police are investing a double-murder case after detaining a pair of suspects believed to have killed two Chinese men at an Internet café on Qingguang Road in Fengxian district early Monday morning.
According to police the suspects came into the store around 3 am and took the life of the Internet café owner, Chen Ming, from Jiangsu Province, and a customer in the shop at the time. Police declined to disclose how the men were murdered.
The suspects allegedly ran to their friend's nearby home after the incident, but their friend, too scared to cooperate with them, tipped off their whereabouts to police, who came and arrested the pair immediately, according to a report by the Oriental Morning Post Tuesday.
According to Chen's landlord, who lives just above the rented 20-square-meter space that he used to house an Internet café with some dozen computers available to customers, said that she was woken in the middle of the night by noises coming from below, the first floor of the three-storey building.
When police arrived at the scene, the two men were already dead.
According to an undisclosed man, who lives near the café and spoke to the Oriental Morning Post, Chen was thinking about closing down his business after being blackmailed to do so several times in recent weeks.
