Chinese weightlifter Deng Wei claimed gold in the women's 58-kilogram event after setting a new junior world record at the Youth Olympic Games Tuesday.
Deng, 17, failed to make it six-for-six in lifts, but still notched the gold medal in a convincing way.
Deng did not give her opponents a chance as she dominated the snatch by lifting 110 kilograms - 15 kilograms more than her nearest rival - on her third attempt. She followed with 132 kilograms in the clean and jerk for a total 242 kilograms, one kilogram better than the previous International Weightlifting Federation's junior world record.
"I am satisfied and I've done my best," said Deng.
Zulfiya Chinshanlo of Kazakhstan finished second.
