The principal of Beichuan Middle School, Liu Yachun, said that the school has not received a donation from Jackie Chan, though the actor had made a promise one year ago, the yesqiaobao.com said on Thursday.
On the first anniversary of the 8.0–magnitude Wenchuan earthquake, Chan said he would donate part of his earnings from his film Little Big Soldier for the reconstruction of the school which was destroyed by the quake, according to a report in the Hong Kong-based newspaper Wenwei Po on May 12, 2009.
But neither Chan's name nor the name of his philanthropic foundation is listed on the website of the Overseas Chinese Economic and Cultural Foundation of China, which is in charge of donations to Beichuan Middle School.
An employee of the foundation said that they have written to Chan about the promised funds, but had not received any response.
The secretary general of the Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation in Beijing, Dang Qun, told reporters that they have not donated to the school.
Little Big Soldier had already grossed 153 million yuan ($22.5 million) in box office revenue, just one month after its debut on February 14 this year.
