100 Geely Englon TX4s were put into the taxi market in Guangzhou Monday for the "Guangzhou New Energy and Barrier-free Public Transportation Vehicles Launching Ceremony".
The 100 Englon TX4 taxis will serve the 16th Asian Games and Asian Para Games. It's the third time that TX4 taxis serve for an international event in China after the Beijing Olympic Games and the Shanghai Expo, proving again that the classic car with over a 80-year history has its special advantage on top-level business reception, taxi services, and barrier-free transportation.
Yang Xueliang, PR Director of Geely Group delivered the car keys to leaders of Guangzhou's public transportation company and Guangzhou Baiyun Taxi Group Co., Ltd. Gan Xin, vice mayor of Guangzhou, as well as high-rank officials of the Guangzhou Transportation Committee, Guangzhou Science and Technology Industry Bureau, Guangzhou Financial Bureau, and Guangzhou Disabled Persons' Federation made their appearance on the ceremony.
Yang said, "With a history of over 80 years, TX4 is a classic business and taxi car. The Britain-style vehicle is spacious and complete in function. It's very easy to drive and popular abroad. The barrier-free facility, serving as a standard deployment, is very handicapped-friendly." He also said the Guangzhou Government attaches great importance to the Asian Games and the handicapped in Guangzhou. "Guangzhou set a model for developed cities in China for developing barrier-free transportation and building a harmonious society," Yang added.
Gan was very satisfied with the vehicle and tried the barrier-free facility himself with a wheel-chair. He expressed his gratitude for Geely to complete the production and after-sales service arrangement of TX4 in such a short time. Gan also showed his expectations towards the local transportation department, public transportation renting companies, and automakers to cooperate with each other and serve for the Asian Games and Asian Para Games in his remarks.
Along with TX4 taxis, over 600 new energy barrier-free buses have also been put in operation.
