China claimed their fifth and sixth diving gold medals Wednesday, keeping them firmly on course for total domination in the competition.
The all-powerful Chinese took gold and silver in both the men's and women's one-metre springboard, with Malaysia capturing the two bronzes.
In the women's, Wu Minxia, the celebrated two-time Olympic champion, added yet another gold medal to her impressive haul.
Better known as "Diving Queen" Guo Jingjing's partner on the 3m synchronised board, Wu successfully defended her title with a winning tally of 326.15 points.
Asked whether she was poised to finally step out of Guo's shadow - the world's most successful female diver is not in Guangzhou and has hinted strongly at retirement - Wu said: "I am going my own way.
"Guo Jingjing began diving earlier than me and she sets a good example. I think what I should learn most is her spirit of winning gold medals."
Compatriot Zheng Shuangxue took silver with 303.90 points ahead of Malaysia's Cheong Jun Hoong in third with 271.60.
In the men's event, China's He Min topped the scoreboard with 481.20 points, followed by compatriot Qin Kai on 451.20 and Malaysian Yeoh Ken Nee on 391.10 for bronze.
"Before the competition I thought I'd only get second place, I didn't think I'd get gold," said He.
"My next goal is the world championships and the 2012 London Olympics."
