Xilin Gol Grassland
The east of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region consists of wide grass meadow lands, forests and mountains. The west of the region is made up of scorching hot dry deserts. Traditional Mongolian nomadic lifestyle can still be seen in the region and yurts (mongolian tents) are not an uncommon site in the wide spaces between the cities.
Inner Mongolia has a temperate continental climate. There, spring is warm and windy; summer is short and hot wit. Winter is cold and can be very long, with frequent blizzards. The climate changes from arid to semi-humid from west to east, and to humid in the northeast. The main feature of the climate here is that the difference in temperature between days and nights is distinct.
