Police are investigating the death of a man, who was allegedly killed by his poker partner with a beer bottle after their game went sour.

The man, in his 50s, fell unconscious after his partner struck him in the head with the bottle. He was rushed to hospital, but had lost too much blood from the injury and died shortly after.

Both men lived in the same residential compound.
