The Zengcheng riot that started on June 10 has been brought under control, and 19 suspects involved in the violent clash with police have been arrested, according to an investigation report released Thursday by the Zengcheng county government in Guangdong Province.

All local businesses and factories are now operating as usual, while local schools have continued classes, despite the Dadun School suspending classes for a day on June 11, according to the local government announcement, the Nanfang Daily reported.

No deaths were reported in the clash, and police sent to maintain order did not fire their weapons. There were no reports of looting, and no serious clashes occurred between police and civilians or locals and outsiders during the conflict, the local government said.

The local police and government could not be reached for further comment on the incident.

The incident started 9 pm last Friday when security officers in Xintang town, Zengcheng county tried to move a vendor and his pregnant wife's market stall away from a supermarket entrance. The woman fainted during the argument with the officers, which caused crowds of onlookers to attack and smash the officers' vehicle.
