Magnificent view formed by water discharging from the Xiaolangdi Reservoir.

A waterfall-viewing festival sponsored by local government kicked off on Monday at the Xiaolangdi Reservoir in Central China’s Henan Province.

Every year from June to July, since its founding in 2001, the Xiaolangdi Reservoir will increase flow charge to remove sand sediment and lower the depth of the Yellow River, thus forming a magnificent waterfall with a height of 200m and width of 500m.

Local governments and travel authorities conceived that this may become a tourist attraction, and in 2005 the first Xiaolangdi Waterfall-viewing Festival began.
