A large-scale concert featuring revolutionary-era songs, or "Red Songs", is set to bring an audience of over 60,000 to the National Stadium Sunday night to recall the revolutionary spirit.

Renowned singers such as Jiang Dawei, Wei Wei and Geng Lianfeng are on the list of over 100 musicians for the two and a half hour performance.

Dedicated to the upcoming 90th birthday of the Communist Party of China, most of the tickets will be given free to retired Red Army members and their families.

The tickets for sale are kept at a relatively low price, from 100 yuan ($15.43) to 300 yuan ($46.30), with VIP tickets at 500 yuan ($77.16).

"I grew up listening to red songs, so it really means a lot to people of my age," said 52-year-old singer Wei Wei at the press conference last week.

Besides old videos and pictures featuring this revolutionary time, four screens in the stadium will also show the lyrics of each song so the audience can sing along.

"We have carefully picked the representative songs of different ages after the founding of the People's Republic of China to show the development of red songs in modern times," said director Duan Moran.
