A kindergarten in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province has served leftover food to its students, as reported by the Yangtse Evening Post on Wednesday.
A web user named Kansiyupianyun published a post with 60 pictures, showing that the porridge children ate at Wang Ping Children's Garden had been reprocessed with leftover food. Dishes described as containing meat consisted only of vegetables, according to the post.
The Yangtse Evening Post said that a teacher at the kindergarten gave a denial of the post's content over the internet.
Another teacher said she was unclear about the meals served, according to a telephone interview on June 5.
A woman surnamed Lan said that her grandson, who graduated from Wang Ping Children's Garden this year, claimed to have never had the beef which the kindergarten promised on their menu.
A local resident added that the private kindergarten had charged 1,200 yuan ($185.52) per month per child, for children between two and three years of age, before June of this year, but that now tuition fees stood at 1,400 yuan ($216.44).
He Weike, the chief of the preschool education division in the Education Bureau for Gulou district, to which the kindergarten is affiliated, told reporters that the school received a license of running schools by non-governmental sectors but had not yet acquired registration qualification. "It has been the subject of numerous complaints by parents over the past few years," he stated.
"We will give a thorough reply to the parents in September, the start of next semester," He added.
