As the Autumn is here, if you have asked people in Beijing for their weekend plan, many of them would say they are going to take a look at red leaves at Fragrant Hill in west Beijing. Fragrant Hill has long been considered Beijing's best place to visit during autumn. It's estimated that there were more than 150,000 visitors at Fragrant Hill last weekend. How did the spot deal with that many visitors? Are there any other alternatives when it comes to viewing red leaves?

Zhang Wan has more.

In order to ensure smooth traffic flows around Fragrant Hill Park, the Beijing traffic management department implemented traffic control measures on some roads near the scenic spot over the weekend.

Nearly a hundred bus routes have been adjusted to meet demand, for example, increasing the number of buses, adding temporary bus routes and ferry transportation between Fragrant Hill and nearby subway stations. most visitors say it's crowded, but the traffic is ok.

"I spent about an hour arriving here from north Beijing, and I didn't encounter any really bad traffic jams."

When more than 150 thousand visitors come to climb the mountain, the park implements one-way tour policies. Xu Yinping from the park's administrative office explains:

"From the north gate of the park, along the cable way, to the top of the mountain, is the way for climbing up, when visitors go down the mountain, they are required to take the way down the south and leave from the east gate. This kind of one way tour policy ensures the smooth flows of crowds."

Meanwhile, the park monitors the situation inside the park through more than 100 cameras, and has added more signs to guide tourists in the right direction.

Many people say they want to see the red leaves, but they are afraid of the immense crowds. However, are there any alternatives? Actually Badaling in Beijing is another place to enjoy views of the red leaves. As it's located in the suburban area of Beijing, the air there is fresher, and visitors may get closer to the red leaves. Now it's already the best time to see red leaves in Badaling forest park.

If you have time to travel further, there are a lot more places to go. Just mention a few here:

In Nan Cuiping Park in Tianjin city, the mountain is mostly covered by red leaves in October. There are different kinds of trees and plants, but their color always changes to red or gold, which provides visitors with fantastic visual feasts.

In Jinan city, Shandong province, Hongyegu or Red Leaves Valley is another good option. The best time to view red leaves starts every year in late September.

In Luoyang, Henan province, the Muzhaling Scenic Spot is very popular among visitors. And Jiuzhaigou in Sichuan province is also a place that you should never miss if you want to view red leaves.
