Myanmar and France are making a move to step up cultural cooperation which covers a number of spheres of the sector, the official media New Light of Myanmar reported Wednesday.
A discussion in Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday between a delegation of France, led by Ambassador at large for cooperation in Asia Jacques Valade and Myanmar Information Minister and Culture U Kyaw Hsan touched on matters on preservation of cultural heritage, upgrading and preservation of museums, human resources development, granting of scholarship for culture ministry staff, inking of memorandum of understanding on cultural cooperation and potentials for cooperation in the information sector, the report said.
The two sides also discussed assistance of France for preservation of cultural heritage in Myanmar's ancient city of Bagan and other historical regions, technical assistance of France for national museum under construction in the capital, it added.
The two countries made the move following the first ever visit to Myanmar by French Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Alain Juppe over the past three days.
