Shanghai-based video-streaming network PPStream has been ordered to pay 15,000 yuan ($2,380) to Hong Kong-based Television Broadcasts Limited for uploading one of the TV broadcaster's series to its site without authorization, a local court said Wednesday.
PPStream put the TV series up to its site in 2010, the year before actually purchasing the rights to the program. PPStream must compensate the TV broadcaster for its wrongful actions, but is permitted to keep the series on its site, the court ruled.
