With the help of its embassy in Jordan's Amman, Indonesia's Foreign Ministry will repatriate 40 troubled migrant workers home, a press statement said here on Saturday.

"The workers will be sent in 3 phases, on March 3, 4 and 13 by the Emirates Airways," said PLE Priatna, director of information and media of the ministry in the statement.

The first group will arrive in Jakarta at 2135 local time (1435 GMT) on Monday.

As of March, there are 332 domestic workers staying in the embassy.

The embassy faces difficulties in sending them home as the system in Jordan and other Arab countries requires their Immigration Office to ask permission from employers before issuing an exit permit for workers.

If the permission is not gained in any reason, the exit permit could not be released, forcing migrant workers to stay in embassies.

However, the Indonesian government keeps trying to send troubled workers back home in Jordan.

It is expected that in the next few months, the embassy could reduce and eventually eliminate accommodation.

The common problem faced by the Indonesian embassies in Arab countries is that many employers hold the workers, citing unfinished contracts or theft allegations.

During 2011, the Indonesian Embassy in Amman had accommodated, repatriated and settled 599 cases of domestic workers involved in unpaid salary, torture, sexual abuse, among others.
