Xi'an-Beijing high-speed train to start operation

Three high-speed railways linking northwestern city Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi Province, and Beijing, Hankou of Hubei Province, and Luoyang Longmen of Henan Province, will go into operation on April 1, 2012, according to the Xi'an Railways Bureau. The first-class seat of the line between Xi'an and Beijing costs about 493 yuan ($78) while that of the second-class charges 357 yuan ($56.51) according to the bureau.

Home sales in Xi'an, Shaanxi, surged 50.88 percent due to the falling price of new homes in February compared with that in January, according to the Shaanxi-based China Business News.

Those who eat inside the carriages of Xi'an Metro will be warned or fined from 20 yuan ($3.16) to 100 yuan ($15.8) - according to the Xi'an railway transportation management regulation.
