Residents walk on a road at Xujiashan village in Ninghai County, southeast China's Zhejiang Province, April 9, 2012. As most of the houses and roads in Xujiashan village was built with the basalt, it is also known as the stone village. Every year, thousands of tourists visit the stone village for its unique style and culture. The village is currently under the protection of local government. Villagers lived a hard life in the past due to poor natural conditions here, so that until now more than half of the some 700 villages were still absent from their homeland to work in cities as farmer-turned workers.
