Coffee growers in southwestern China's Yunnan Province are facing falling coffee bean prices as global demand falters, according to industry insiders.
The price of Yunnan coffee beans currently stands at around 20 yuan ($3.16) per kilogram, down from an average price of 40 yuan last year, and there are still nearly 20,000 tons of beans in the province that are waiting to be sold, according to information from the Coffee Association of Yunnan Province. Waning demand from Europe and increased coffee output from the Americas have been blamed for the falling prices.
