Automaker Volkswagen (China) Wednesday said it will extend the guarantee period of the direct-shift gearbox (DSG) of the company's vehicles.
Volkswagen will extend the warranty period of DQ200 7-speed and DQ250 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox produced before December 31, 2012 to 10 years or 160,000 kilometers, the company said in an e-mail to the Global Times.
In March, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said it had received customers' complaints about unusual noises, vibrations and transmission problems in the DSG of Volkswagen vehicles.
However, Volkswagen has not recalled the vehicles as it said the reported problems pose no threat to vehicles' safety.
