A 3-month-old baby has lost his eyesight after staring at the light of his family's Bathroom Master, an all-in-one bathroom light, fan, and heater, at his home in Ankang, Shaanxi Province, the City Express reported on Tuesday.

The baby, named Songsong, had grown fond of gazing directly at the strong light while being bathed by his mother, surnamed Song.

Recently, Songsong began to show no reaction to people's gestures. Worried about this change, Song took her baby to a local hospital. Doctors said he had gone blind because of exposure to strong light.

"I regret bathing Songsong under the Bathroom Master. Doctors said it will be very difficult for my baby to recover his eyesight," Song said.

Zhang Xuehui, an ophthalmologist at Xi'an No.1 Hospital in Shaanxi, said that the light and heat given off by the Bathroom Master are capable of burning retinas. The product's light is five times that of a fluorescent bulb, according to the newspaper.
