China North Locomotive and Rolling Corp (CNR), the country's second largest train maker, announced Thursday that its subsidiary has signed a contract with Hong Kong's MTR Corporation to sell its self-developed diesel locomotives.

The deal involves 23 diesel locomotives with a power of 830 kilowatts and maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour, which have been designed and produced according to advanced international standards, according to CNR.

The locomotives have met the strict EU stage IIIB emission standards and their operating noise is below 70 decibels, compared with the 78-decibel standard in the Chinese mainland.
