Peddler dies after fistfight
at Yangpu district market

A middle-aged man peddling plastic bags died outside a food market Monday evening after getting into a fight with a vegetable vendor, Yangpu district police said Tuesday.
Around 5 pm, the victim, surnamed Liu, was walking from stall to stall in the market trying to sell plastic bags to vendors, according to a report Tuesday on the news website Xinmin.cn.
At one point, Liu got into an argument with a vendor surnamed Zhang, which escalated into a fistfight.
Zhang was chasing Liu outside the market when the latter man fell to the ground and died.
Yangpu police officers took Zhang into custody three hours later.
Police are still investigating the death, according to the Yangpu police's official microblog.
