Chen Changzhi re-elected CNDCA chairman

Chen Changzhi was re-elected chairman of the China National Democratic Construction Association (CNDCA), one of China's eight non-communist political parties, on Thursday.

Chen was elected during the CNDCA's 10th national congress, which concluded on the same day.

The 67-year-old also serves as vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, vice president of the Chinese Association for International Understanding and of the China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification, and chairman of the China Siyuan Foundation for Poverty Alleviation.

The CNDCA was founded by patriotic industrialists, businessmen and intellectuals in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality on Dec. 16, 1945.

China's eight democratic parties are the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, the China Democratic League, the China National Democratic Construction Association, the China Association for Promoting Democracy, the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party, the China Zhi Gong Party, the Jiu San Society and the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League.
