Sudan's North Darfur State government on Sunday said it contained the most recent tribal clashes between Bani Hussein and Abbala tribes at Al-Siraif locality in the state which left 53 dead and 83 others injured.

"The armed forces and other regular forces have managed to completely contain the situation at Al-Siraif locality after the regretful incidents which took place during Thursday and Saturday, " Osman Yousif Kibir, North Darfur State Governor, told reporters.

He added that the regular forces would carry on imposing the sovereignty of the state at the area and end any disorder that tends to escalate the situations at there.

He further warned against dealing with rumors which tend to sow sedition, urging all parties to help in curbing up such rumors.

The governor expressed regret over the recent incidents, attributing the renewed clashes between Bani Hussein and Abbala tribes during the past days to the criminals who wanted to loot properties of others and to some violations by the two parties.

He reiterated that life at the area was back to normal, noting that his government was rearranging matters regarding the humanitarian side so that the humanitarian organizations would be able to provide assistance to the needy.

Early this week, 53 people were killed and 83 others injured in fresh tribal clashes between Bani Hussein and Abbala tribes at Al- Siraif locality in North Darfur State.

Similar tribal clashes took place in early January between the two tribes at Jabel Amer of Al-Siraif locality due to disputes over gold mines in the area, where some 100 people got killed.
